NOVEMBER Birthday Lunch at the Evil Eye

Join all those who have a birthday in NOVEMBER at the Evil Eye for lunch. Come along for a great lunch!

Birthday Boy/Girl and friends are invited to meet at 12.30pm for lunch and a chat at Evil Eye Restaurant, 3 Vereker St, Fairy Meadow.

Friday 8th November

Tour of Queen Victoria Building

I will meet you are Wolli Creek at 10.50am, and travel to Town Hall Station. Time then for coffee and cake or a quick lunch nearby before joining our 12 noon Tour.

QVB History Tour takes you on a journey to uncover a story of resilience, culture and progress  as your explore this historical icon built in 1898 as a monument to the long reigning monarch.  On this 45 minute Tour you will view Romanesque architecture with stained glass windows and the mighty centre dome.  You explore inside and outside of the building and visit the ground floor to level 2.  Meeting point is at the Concierage Desk on the Ground Floor. 

Cost $25

Train times are:  Train times are Shellharbour Junction 9.09am, Dapto 9.23am, Wollongong 9.37am Thirroul 9.48am, travel in 2nd last carriage through to Wolli Creek where you change trains and I will meet you at 10,50am, and catch a train through to Town Hall Station, Return trains leave Central at 2.23pm, 3.24pm.

This is an evening presentation commencing at 7.30pm so we will have dinner at Corrimal RSL at 5.45pm and then meet in the foyer at 7.15pm.

Cost is $30.

Sunday 10th November

Walk and Lunch at Warilla

Join Bruce for a leisurely walk from his home along the Warilla beach walking pathway to Little Lake and look at the improvements that Council have done by spending $10 million to renew the sea wall, then we will return to Bruce & Gina’s home. We will provide a BBQ lunch, tea & coffee. Bring you own drinks.

Limit of 20. Start time 10am. Cost $5.

Restaurant Night at Jasmine Rice Thai W'gong

This month we will be dining  at  Jasmine Rice Thai Restaurant, 131 Corrimal Street, Wollongong. Names to be added to Activity Sheet with the payment of a $5 deposit (Rule of Jasmine Rice Thai Restaurant, which will be refunded when paying for your meal on the night). There is also a $4 per bottle surcharge. Arrive at  6pm for a 6.30pm Dinner.

Trivia Night at Corrimal RSL

Meet at 5.30pm for 6.00pm dinner and Trivia starts at 7.00pm.

Prizes for True & False questions as well as Trivia. Emphasis on fun.

Friday 15th November

The Postman's Run on the Hawksbury River

Come cruising with me on the Hawkesbury Mail Boat, the famous Postman's Run which has been running since 1910 for a 3 hour cruise  which includes morning tea and a Aussie Ploughman's Lunch, and the boat is licensed.  The boat caters for dietary requirements (gluten free, vegetarian etc) just advise when booking.

Seniors/Concessions Cost: $59
School age children Cost: $25.

We need Names & Money by Friday 8th November please!

Boat leaves Brooklyn at 10am

Train times:   Dapto 6.43am, Unanderra 6.49am, Wollongong 6.54am, Thirroul 7.08am arrives Central 8.25am.  Train to Brooklyn leaves Platform 12 at Central at 8.45am and arrives Brooklyn 9.47am for 10am boat. Boat arrives back at Wharf at 1.10pm for train at 1.24pm or 2.24pm.

Bush Dance at Heininger Hall - Dapto

Join us for the Bush Dance at Heininger Hall, Heininger Street, Dapto.

It starts at 1.00pm with a lesson and then the dancing runs from 2.00pm until 4.00pm. Live music by Southern Cross.

Cost is $5 which includes afternoon tea. 

Beginners , singles and families welcome.

Come for a fun afternoon of Bush dancing!

Tour of Strickland House, Vaucluse

We are touring Strickland House, a heritage property in Vaucluse. The tour runs from 10:30 AM to 12:30 pm and cost $15 adult and $13 concession.

Meet on the train: 7:17 Oak Flats, 7:32 Dapto, 7:47 Wollongong, 7:58 Thirroul to Edgecliff. Catch the 325 bus toward Watson’s Bay. Stop is at Strickland House.

Bring lunch, drink and snacks as there are picnic tables on the property. Please pay before or at October meeting. Limited numbers. Please include your phone number on the activity sheet, in case of transport changes. (Sorry, no disabled access)

IOC Meeting Night

All Welcome!

The meeting commences at 7.30pm downstairs in the Sunken Lobby at the Fraternity Club, Fairy Meadow.

Members, guests, and visitors are welcome to join us for the meeting or come early and join us for dinner from 6.00pm in the Fraternity Bistro.

Don't forget to wear your IOC name badge to win a prize and help us to get to know each other.

On Thursday’s one of the specials is a T/Bone steak for $20 which includes a drink from the bar, (large glass of wine or schooner of beer etc) Members only. if steak is not your choice they have other specials or a choice from the main menu. Meet at 5pm for 5.30pm start. No limit.

Card Night at Figtree

Join us for a fun night of cards and games at the Bridge Club Hall in Figtree.

Ferry Ride to Manly

Join me on a ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly, and a short walk through The Corso to Shelley Beach and return for lunch at a Pub on the Corso, or alternately bring your own lunch.   Maybe time to browse the shops along the Corso before returning to Circular Quay by ferry.

Train times Kiama 7.13am, The Junction 7.26am, Dapto 7.40am, Wollongong 7.53am, Thirroul 8.08am.  Train home from Central 2.23pm or 3.23pm

Let's Explore Johnston Street, Annandale

Named after Captain George Johnston of the First Fleet, Johnston Street is steeped in history. On our 2km walk we will see the Witches Houses, Annandale Gate Houses, and George Bills Horse Trough, and many more Heritage Listed treasures from the 19th Century.  Lunch along the walk or bring your own and sit in the Bi-Centennial Park and enjoy views of Anzac Bridge and Sydney Harbour Foreshore before catching the Lightrail back to Central.

Train times Shell Harbour Junction 8.09am, Dapto 8.23am, Wollongong 8.36am, Thirroul 8.48am arrives Central at 10.02 where I will meet you. We will catch a bus along Parramatta Road to Annandale.  Trains back to Wollongong at 2.20pm or 3.20pm.
